Robin, crumpets

They're sort of spongey, bread-y things, a little bit like what Americans call English muffins, that you grill and then smother in butter and jam (jelly) or whatever. The packaging of these ones tells me they're made from wheat flour, water, salt, vinegar and raising agents and a few other bits and bobs. And they are very nice indeed.
Do *you* have an English food you don't know about and would like to see a picture of Robin next to? We'll be only too happy to oblige!

I'm surprised you found crumpets for Robin. I thought they were only available in winter time and its Spring here in Derby!

Blood pudding - it sounds disgusting, does it look disgusting? If not that, kidney pie.
I think you are referring to black pudding Dawn. There's also another variety called white pudding though I prefer the black pudding. It goes along very nicely with what we call a "Full English"!
Same bloke in NW10.
I think I have heard of blood pudding-on Fear Factor, perhaps. But I don't know if it is a European fare. But I would be interested in what a "full english" is...
Andria (from Texas)
Mmmmm, crumpets. There was a store close to where I used to live in VA that sold crumpets. I avoid any spread that includes "mite" in it, but I love them with jam.
Incidentally, there is another little store near my parents called UK Gourmet. The owner is an expat who missed his favorite treats so much he opened his own store to be able to import them. My weakness is plain chocolate covered HobNobs. And even though I already know what they are, a pic of Robin with a package would be appreciated! :D:D

Some bloke in NW10!
The smile on Robin's face tells me he's just eaten a crumpet and liked it very much - lol! Thanks so much for the pic and explanation!
OK - what in the world is 'spotted dick'? It is mentioned in the Harry Potter books (sorry, I'm a big nerdy fan of HP!) and makes me giggle every time I read it.
By the way - that's my comment above :-)
KJ in the USA
KJ ~ Spotted Dick is a dessert. I remember it mentioned in a Hornblower book (I think). Wikipedia has a short description of it, and apparently it made a return to the menu on Gloucestershire Hospital menus a few years ago (BBC News). Have to say that it doesn't look all that appetizing to me...
