Robn in the snow

Woke up this morning to find that it snowed last night. Of course that meant Robin made me jump out of bed and take him down to the garden (most robins like snow). So here he is. It's melting now, but don't tell Robin that...

KJ asked in the comments of the last post if High School sport is popular here, drawing crowds etc. Sadly not, I used to play for my school team and the crowd would usually consist of 2 or 3 pushy parents screaming at their kids for not doing well enough. We don't even get crowds for our sports teams at university/college level, whereas it seems in the US some college teams get crowds of 100,000! Crazy. Must be very odd being a superstar when you're 18 to 21, then coming down to earth with a bump when you leave college and get a humdrum job. However, we do have several hundred soccer teams who get paying crowds each week from your Manchester Uniteds getting 75,000 people to your Hitchin Towns, who play 7 or more division below, getting a couple of hundred.

If anyone had any more questions about UK culture, feel free to ask!

Looks like Robin is enjoying the snow while it lasts. We got about 6 inches of snow last week and so far it's not melting off at all. Let Robin know that I have a lovely warm nest if he'd like to cross the big pond and visit Wisconsin!

So sad that your school sports don'g get big crowds. I grew up in a town of about 1200 people, and we would have 200-300 people watching every football and basketball game!

I hope your family is doing well and the little one is settling into a routine.

Cheers! KJ in the USA

Don't know what happened to my post yesterday. Following up on KJ, I wrote commenting on the snow in Arizona. The Times newspaper had a picture of the desert, just as one sees in the western films, but, it had 2" os snow and each branch of the cacti had a dollop of snow on the top. Weird!!! Sarah, Derby

Have already seen D. Beckham in some television advertisements - should be interesting to see what affect he has on soccer here in the US.

It's been bloody cold here in the states! Yesterday, it was -16F when I got up (-26C) with the wind chill being -40F (-40C). Several people have already died of exposure. I don't know about you, but I'm ready for spring!! Hope Robin and all are keeping warm!

In my opinion it is obvious. I will refrain from comments.
